James, Jessica and their crew made the renovation of our bath easy and simple for us. We changed from a tub/shower to a walk in shower with new fixtures and grab bars. Other changes included a new vanity top, removal of wallpaper and placement of a new toilet. Everyone we encountered was professional, pleasant and worked steadily to completion. Termites ate the back of my house all around the fireplace, the roof overhang where the screened porch connects to the house, the studs and top plate, and the wood around the windows and mantle. I called 3 contractors and listened to their explanation of the scope of work. I chose Distinctive Renovations. James, the owner, was easy to talk to and gave a fair price and clear contract for the scope of work and didn't try to scare me with dire tales of a termite apocalypse like the first contractor I interviewed, whose estimate was by far the highest. James came every day to inspect and guide his crew and adjust the scope of work. His crew of men were hard working, pleasant, competent, and trustworthy. They had experience in dealing with termite damaged houses. After six days, I am happy to say my house is strong, whole, and looking good. We recently remodeled our kitchen and a small “cloffice” (closet/office). I spoke with three contractors but ultimately went with Distinctive Renovations and GC due to James’ up-front detail and advice, the quote, and the mock-up provided by Amy. The mock-up really came to life as indicated. James, his team, and his collaborators were respectful, friendly, hard-working, and left the workspace enclosed and clean at the end of each day. James was particular about staying within our budget and finishing the kitchen reno within the provided timeline. Both James and Jessica were a text or phone call away. I really put James to the test as he worked to fit my expensive taste (and our space needs) into our actual budget :D. Ultimately, the kitchen came out beautifully and we are so happy with it. The cloffice looks great, too. This was our first time using a contractor and we were going off only google reviews, but it ended up being a good decision and we are thankful to have avoided nightmares that others sometimes experience with contractors.
